Panel at the Canadian Science Policy Centre Conference

The Collaboratory Uni-Cité organzed a panel at the Canadian Science Policy Centre Conference, dedicated to bolstering collaboration between scientists and municipal decision-makers around urban transformation projects. Focused on solutions and successful practices, this interactive panel of practitioners and researchers encouraged dialogue and new thinking on how researchers and city decision-makers can strengthen their collaboration and bolster innovation. Panel participants explored the opportunities and tensions between municipal and academic contexts in a changing world. Panelists had an open discussion and moderators included interventions from the audience throughout around key questions.

In parallel, panel organizers invited participants to join a concept mapping exercise to generate ideas and solutions around the panel’s key question: What structures or approaches are needed to support the strengthening of science for urban policy? Results were processed in real time. At the end of  the session, panelists and audience members reviewed and interpreted the results of the concept mapping exercise as a group to take stock of the solutions proposed.
